COOKIE POLICY

Cookies and similar storage

This explains the small amount of storage Comuta keeps on your device, why, and how to control it. Comuta is built to use as little as possible, and sets nothing non-essential without your consent.

1. What this covers

Cookies and browser storage are small pieces of data a site keeps on your device so it can remember things between page loads. This policy covers cookies, local storage and session storage used by the Comuta website and app.

2. What Comuta uses

Essential (always on)

  • Sign-in and session: keeping you logged in securely between pages. Without this you could not stay signed in.
  • Security: protecting requests and your account from misuse.
  • Your choices: remembering the cookie preference you set below, and small interface settings.

Optional (only with your consent)

  • Analytics: understanding which pages are used, so we can improve them. We use PostHog, hosted in the EU, and only if you accept analytics in the banner. Until then nothing is loaded and no analytics cookie or storage is set. It tags your visit with a random identifier, not with who you are, and does not record your session. In the app, the same choice applies to the web version; the iOS and Android apps have their own setting, "Share anonymous usage data", which is off by default.
  • Comuta does not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

3. Third parties

When you pay, you are handed to Paystack’s hosted checkout, which sets its own cookies to process the payment securely. Our database and sign-in are provided by Supabase, and optional analytics by PostHog (EU-hosted, with your consent). These are service providers acting for us, not advertisers.

4. Your choice

The first time you visit, Comuta asks whether to allow optional analytics. You can accept, or keep only what is essential. Essential storage is always used because the site cannot work without it. You can change your mind at any time with the “Change cookie settings” link at the bottom of every page: choosing Essential only after accepting stops analytics straight away and clears what it stored. Clearing this site’s data in your browser also brings the choice back.

5. Managing cookies in your browser

Every browser lets you view and delete cookies and storage, and block them for a site. Blocking essential storage will sign you out and stop parts of the site working. Your browser’s help pages explain where these controls are.

6. Changes and contact

We will update this policy if what we store changes, and post the new version here. Questions about cookies or your data go to support@comuta.com.ng.

Privacy by design

Manage your data from inside the app.

Review your privacy settings, block members and request account deletion from your account area at any time.
